While we would LOVE to take credit, cleansing hair and body with mud is nothing new. While it might sound really weird and even sort of gross you out, you have to trust us on this one and just continue reading. Not every mud is suitable for cleansing the hair and body. It’s not like we’re asking you to wallow like a pig or anything. We use a very rare, mineral rich clay mined deep within the Atlas Mountains. When wet the clay is resembles moist, solid mud before it is sent for purifying where it is washed, filtered, dried and powdered to produce a clay free of impurities. This clay has the amazing property to become somewhat soapy as it works to absorb debris, oil and free radicals from the scalp and hair. Our unique formula combining conditioning oils and strengthening herbs makes hair softer, cleaner and healthier looking than run of the mill shampoo.
So by now you are probably wondering why can’t you just shampoo like you have been doing all your life. Well, you can, we suppose but why would you want to? Let’s put emotions aside for a moment and just think logical. Shampoos are filled with chemicals that are not only known to cause allergies but are linked to cancer as well. Even “natural” shampoos often contain questionable ingredients (unless you are using ours, of course). SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), SLES (sodium lauryl ether sulfate), sulfuric acid, methyl paraben, synthetic fragrance, synthetic color, formaldehyde, isopropyl glycol and amodimethicone are only a small number of potentially dangerous chemicals you will find in your shampoo. Our skin is an organ that not only keeps things out but also allows things in. Many of these chemicals make their way into the bloodstream and have been linked with a number of health issues. Not to mention what these chemicals do to our environment after they are washed into our waterways. Shampoos poison the waterways killing off insect and ultimately fish populations. Not to mention the fact that the shampoo that goes down your tub gets recycled in your drinking water and is fed back to you. Do you still want to Sham-Poo?

How do I Mud-Poo? It’s super easy. Pour one to four tablespoons of Mud-Poo into a cup (amount needed dependent upon hair length). Stir in enough water to make a muddy slurry. Slurry should resemble chocolate milk. Pour Mud-Poo slurry onto wet hair. Be sure to coat all hair and scalp. Take about a minute or two to really work Mud-Poo into scalp and hair using fingers to massage into scalp. Rinse out thoroughly and towel dry. Hair washed with Mud-Poo generally only needs to be washed every 2-3 days.
Tip for coarse hair: Add a few drops of oil to your Mud-Poo slurry for more conditioning.
Due to popular demand this product is now in powder form. The video is outdated, however, the application and usage and ingredients are all same. We just removed water. What you will receive is a new and improved Mud-Poo in powdered form. This will allow you to control how thick or runny you want your shampoo to be! Enjoy!
I love all Shea Terra products the mud poo is the best takes all hairspray residue out of hair with out drying ....it's awesome! Hair feels soft and clean I'm hooked will never shampoo again
I bought this on a whim. I thought it would be an interesting product to try. Didn't really know what to expect. Well, first of all , I no longer have dandruff. Normally I wash everyday because my roots get so oily and nasty but I can go three days between mud-pooing. Leaves my hair perfectly clean, balanced and soft. ...and ....no dandruff !!
I have somewhat coarse, very thick hair with wave/curl combo and this stuff really puts a spring into the waves/curls.
For reference: My hair reaches almost to the middle of my back and I use 2 tablespoons of mudpoo mixed with about 3/4 cup of water
